LifeBridge Health & Fitness




Facilities: We may have to tell you what they do not have here, that would be a shorter list. The gym has more than 200 Cardio machines, each with individual TV; salt water heated swimming pool, plus a therapy pool, three group exercise studios, an indoor running track, rock-climbing walls, luxurious locker rooms with hot tubs, sauna , and steam room; WI-Fi, café, pro shop selling Lululemon and Under Armour gear, and LifeBridge Health in the practice of physical therapy.

Federal Hill Fitness


Facilities: Located in between the bar and restaurant on Cross Street, Federal Hill Fitness has a modern feel rehabbed. There are two attic floors, exposed brick, and put on a wall painting of Robert McClintock. The main floor has an open area for Cardio, the lower floor is for the core, and the second floor has Kettlebells and weights and a studio for classes.

Downtown Athletic fitness Club



Facilities: Because it's open 24 hours, this 100-year, 66 000 square feet converted train depot is never too crowded. Along with the normal list of free weights and exercise equipment, look for parking, racquetball and squash courts, basketball courts, an indoor pool with sauna and steam room, rubber track, and a boxing ring. The vibe is a "cold," said Karen Codd lifestyle consultant. "This state-of-the-art, but not luxurious."

Who's there: The gym offers a wide selection of models of client-city residents, workers and passengers. This is a true "melting pot," says Codd. Both Governor Martin O'Malley and former Mayor Sheila Dixon are fixed.

Curves for Women fitness




Facilities: In sports there are no boys-allowed, there are a dozen or more exercise machines of different types to work different parts of your body. Give them 30 minutes a day, three times a week, and work a set number of minutes on each machine for Cardio and strength, and you're done.

Brick Board



Facilities: Location Padonia started as a tennis club with bar, hot tub, and cigarette machines. Since the owners Lynne and Victor Brick bought the gym in 1985, the space has been reconfigured to include a half basketball court and a large equipment room, which features modern apparatus such as Ellipticals, cross trainers, and Stairmasters on two floors. There is a joie de vivre among sports fans, and it's not unusual to see Lynne Brick in the middle of them.

Canton Club


Facilities: The layout of the level, on the second floor of a waterfront building in Canton, has all the gym facilities state-of-the-art with a spectacular view of the harbor. "It's like a cruise ship is not moving," said Canton Club fitness director Jacki Dalsimer. Clients can work out on treadmills and other exercise equipment and a boat staring at the Baltimore skyline. More interesting is the "wow room," as co-owner Amy Passen calling area with purple silk hammock hanging from the ceiling for air Yoga and FitWalls attached, in which the client continues to rock the "wall" to build strength and flexibility.
